How to use the Boyer Brush

Watch the 33-second video

Thirty-three seconds is all it takes — watch, then follow the five steps below.

▲Pro tip: before or after cooking, turn the grill up to its highest setting (about 500 °F / 260 °C), then brush while it is hot.

Like any metal tool, look at the head before you cook.

Five steps to a spotless grill

Step 1 - engage the brush in the bars
1

Set the brush down so the coils engage in the grill bars.

Step 2 - use both hands and keep the brush flat
2

Use both hands and keep the brush flat — do not lift up at an angle.

Step 3 - push forward and pull back
3

Engage the brush forward and bring it back to you without applying too much pressure.

Step 4 - ride over obstacles
4

Hit an obstacle? Keep the brush moving confidently without slowing down — the springs will do the job for you.

Step 5 - add side tension
5

Once engaged, increase tension by applying horizontal pressure left or right while pushing forward and back.

How the coils clean the top and the sides

Side view of the brush at work: each coil is a torsion spring — it sits in the brush head so the leg below can flex. As you push and pull, the legs scrape the top and sides of the bars, flex back over burnt-on spots, and snap right back into contact.
